Its not as big as before. Its a bit more cluttered and disorganized. Maybe they were in spring cleaning or something, but definitely not how I remembered it [pre 2020] as THE go-to for all magik needs. Service was friendly, albeit disinterested in proactively helping. Definitely still bought what we needed AND a gift. Its just needs a little bit of a spruce up and personal engagement.

Okay ALCHEMY ARTS STORE is not what it used to be I’m a very dissatisfying customer due to the change of visuality artistic culture I loved the way it once was the vibe of the store was amazing and now nothing to choose no options and very empty to see

I love this store. Lots and lots of things to fit your needs. They rearrange the store often, so I'm always lost. But the employees are really helpful especially Moamao. Good candle selection but rotating. They never seem to have the same candles twice.

I have been coming to this store for past 15 years …..I love seeing the transformation…it is getting cleaner, more organised and better and better year after year. Thanks for being in our Neighbourhood so I could teach my son there is more than this physical world without shoving any religion into him. 🥰🙏

Bring back the old owner, the new owner is a passive aggressive, young woman that thinks she’s cosplaying Harry Potter. Also changing the name of the shop to hex house from alchemy arts, just plain silly lmao

Everything about this place feels intentional, thoughtful, and deeply professional. The owner is incredibly warm. When I asked what a candle represented, she shared a story instead of a definition — and that story helped me understand it on a much deeper level. This isn’t just a good business. It feels like a spiritual refuge hidden within a storefront — a place that offers tools and practices to help people reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, manifest, and create better lives. In many ways, it feels like a gentle form of psychological care. I’ve been to almost every similar shop in Chicago, yet I still choose to drive over half an hour to come back here every time. I’m genuinely happy I found this place. I wish it continued success, the ability to help more people, and to quietly make the world a better place.

This place has been on my radar for a while so I finally stepped in hoping to find some cool knick knacks or trinkets. As soon as I walked in I was slammed with this rancid smell. I’m not even sure I can describe it, it was like bottom shelf weed mixed with dirt and mushrooms. Listen I’m no stranger to stuff like that, but this was overwhelmingly strong. I looked around and all I saw was some crystals, herbs, and incense. Place looked damn near empty. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because I know it’s probably just not meant for me Edit: Changed to 1 star out of spite for their passive aggressive attitude in reply to my review

The best place to get chime candles, oils, and incense! A fair variety of crystals and books too but this truly is my favorite spot for candles oils and incense. Staff is kind and really answers your questions to the best of their ability, though young they willingly share what knowledge they have and it’s a good space overall. No pretentious energy, vibes are clean and positive
